One of the effects of smoking is the effect of nicotine on the body. In this article, we will discuss what happens to your body when you take that first puff.
After that first puff, nicotine starts to have an effect on your central nervous system and the rest of the body. Certain areas of the brain are simulated by the nicotine in cigarettes and can make you feel more relaxed and less anxious.
Nicotine also affects hormones in your body. The effects cause a chemical dependency to nicotine and cause the accompanying craving. The levels of hormones are increased by heavy use of smoking. These heightened levels of hormones have an addictive quality. This causes a need for a cigarette at certain intervals of time. After the stimulation of the hormones starts to fall, smokers need another cigarette to bring them back to the comfort zone. It they do not get that cigarette, the craving begins.
The more cigarettes that you smoke the more dependent you become and the more nicotine you need to stop the cravings.
Obviously, cravings are not the only effects of smoking nicotine. Health concerns such as lung diseases, heart diseases, and many other health issues need to be considered when you smoke. These effects and many others are reasons enough to quit smoking. Stop the damage and just quit!
